Film Preview: 14th March
You are warmly invited to join us for the film premiere of artist Seiko Kinoshita’s recent commission for the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site ‘Threading Through Communities’ from 3pm at St Peter’s Church, Belper.
This event will include:
A short film by Daniella Sasaki & Seiko Kinoshita, documenting the commission, featuring the hundreds of local people who created lanterns for display at the spectacular lantern lit event in October 2019
Micro-films by Chesterfield College Media students & Steven Mastin, a unique opportunity to see Seiko’s project and the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site through young people’s eyes
Inspired by surrounding historical connections to Strutt’s North Mill, Seiko worked with over 500 local residents and school children to make lanterns influenced by the original cotton bobbin design and to illuminate this historically significant area in Belper.
This event is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site Great Place Scheme funded by National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, produced by Beam.
