Along the historic Iron Gate and Sadler Gate, you will find Derby Museum and Art Gallery, with its impressive Joseph Wright Gallery. This showcases portraits, landscapes and scenes of industry directly relevant to the story of the Derwent Valley Mills.
The Joseph Wright Study Centre holds drawings, prints, letters and other supporting information relating to Wright’s life and work.
The Museum and Art Gallery have an exciting programme of events and national and international exhibitions throughout the year. They regularly update their collections, so there will always be something new – no two visits will ever be the same!
Once you’ve satisfied your inner explorer, relax and unwind in The Coffee House with locally sourced cake and coffee, surrounded by a collection of historical porcelain. There is also a newly refurbished shop of unique souvenirs and art materials to browse at your own leisure.
