Every Monday we’ve been posting a challenge for everyone to try at home – inspired by something linking to our World Heritage Site. Why not have a go too? You can share what you’ve done on our Facebook page @DerwentValleyMillsWHS

Try a Building Challenge!

Can you build one of our famous mills or landmarks from Lego, construction kits, boxes, blocks or things you have in the house?  Can you build any of the other World Heritage Sites from around the world?  Have a look at our website derwentvalleymills.org.uk for some ideas.

How about a Lego Masson Mill?  Or a cereal box Stonehenge?

Try an Engineering Challenge!

Can you make a waterwheel that works?  A water powered car?  An aqueduct from pipes?  Have a look at what you’ve got in the yard, garden or house and see if you can be like the engineers from the Derwent Valley Mills and construct your own water systems and ways of powering machinery. 

Try a Creative Challenge Part 1!

Whilst you’re at home and social distancing why not share your paintings, drawings, photographs, collages and creations of your favourite places and scenes across the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. What was it like to be one of the workers or mill owners from the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site.
