Recycled Jewellery Introduction to Fine Metalworking
Recycled Jewellery: Introduction to Fine Metalworking
An introductory course to jewellery making and fine metalworking using recycled or reclaimed materials and found objects.
Multimedia Artist and Maker Arthur Scott will lead you through creating your own accessories and curios, incorporating your small found objects. These could be sea glass, semi-precious gemstones, or even a nut or bolt you found at the side of the road.
You will learn a variety of traditional techniques and use whichever ones you need to bend, solder, or peen recycled copper or brass into your desired piece, whether that’s a ring, pendant or charm.
You will also discover fascinating connections to Derby Museums’ collections of making, which chart the progress of Derby’s ongoing manufacturing history and the people who were involved.
Venue: Museum of Making, Silk Mill Lane, Derby, DE1 3AF
Time: weekend course running from 10am-3pm on Saturday 18th September and 10am to 3pm on Sunday 19th August.
