School Projects
School Projects
The Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site has worked with several schools on different types of projects in the past. Successful funding bids and availability of resources are key to delivering these projects.
Below are some of the projects that we have successfully delivered.
Technology Then, Technology Now
The Technology Then, Technology Now project was funded by the Heritage Lottery 'Young Roots' programme and developed during 2013 and 2014 by young people aged 16 to 24 years from Highfields School in Matlock, Belper School and Nottingham Trent University.
Me: My Past, My Future
The project is loosely based on a children’s time slip story ‘Scavenger Boy’, where a boy is taken back in time and learns what life was like in the days of cotton production at Cromford Mills. The plan is to get families to reflect on their past and think about what they want for their children.
Children of the Mills
Children of the Mills was a multi media performance project involving over 200 children from schools local to the Derwent Valley Mills WHS.
