Access for All

Due to the historic nature of the World Heritage Site and the requirements to carry out improvements which do not negatively impact the Outstanding Universal Value, there is still some way for us to go to say that we really have Access for All. But we are working on it!

One of the Great Place Scheme projects, which was funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Arts Council England, looked at accessibility issues across the site. During the project we worked with Accessible Derbyshire. They carried out accessibility audits at some of our sites, trained staff from partner organisations, and generally pointed us in the right direction. We will also be carrying out some of their recommendations to help improve your experience. More information will be added to these pages over the next few months.

We have tried to include the information that you might need to ensure you and your family can fully enjoy your visit to the World Heritage in a safe and relaxed way. However, if you have any questions about individual sites, please do phone them and talk through your visit with them.
