Our leaflets provide information on how to appreciate your visit to the area: including Visitor Guides, walks leaflets and events guides.
If you would like a printed copy, you can pick these up at many of the Tourist Information points, visitor centres, mill, museums and lots of other places in Derbyshire. If you can’t find them in Derbyshire and would like to have one posted out to you, please email your postal address to dvmwhs@derbyshire.gov.uk.
Derwent Valley Mills Visitor Guide
Newly updated visitor guide for 2022. This free leaflet on the Derwent Valley Mills Heritage Site offers a brief description of all the key places to explore. With information about facilities, accessibility, transport, events and places to stay. It is available from a range of venues in and around Derbyshire, and the key mill sites in the Derwent Valley.
Cromford Village Walk
Starting at Cromford Mills this leaflet takes you on walk around Cromford Village, taking in the key attractions. There is also a walk along Cromford Canal.
Belper Heritage Walk No 1
Follow this walk which takes in Strutt's North Mill, Belper River Gardens, the housing built by the Strutts for their factory workers and other historic buildings in the town.
Belper Heritage Walk no 2
Starting at De Bradelei, this walk takes in the historic mills, buildings and housing in Belper.
Darley Abbey Heritage Walks
This leaflet takes you to the mills and on a selection of walks around the mill village. The starting point for the first walk is Interpretation Board A on the riverbank opposite the mill complex.
Derby Heritage Walk
A short circular walk, with optional extensions, visiting the most significant historic sites, including the site of the Roman Fort and Well at Chester Green. During your walk you will see more information on interpretation boards, including one adjacent to a former Handyside railway bridge and the other near St Mary’s Bridge.
Milford Walks
This leaflet gives you three options for short walks looking at some of the most significant sites in Milford and Makeney. The starting point for each walk is the interpretation board opposite the Strutt Arms on the A6 main road, which will tell you more about this industrial community, and show you how it has changed in the past two centuries.
