Great Place Schemes
The investment received by the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site is part of the Great Place Scheme. There are 16 pilot projects throughout England to ensure that investment in arts and culture also has the biggest possible impact on local economies, jobs, education, community cohesion and health and wellbeing.
Great Place Schemes will enable cultural organisations to make a step-change in how they work together, and with other organisations in other sectors, in order that arts, culture and heritage contribute more to meeting local social and economic objectives.
The Scheme is designed to pilot new approaches that enable cultural and community groups to work more closely together and to place heritage at the heart of communities.
