Cromford Mills Re-Opens
It’s fantastic that Cromford Mills is now open again! The site is observing strictly the government Covid-19 guidelines, so the normal visitor offer has been carefully and thoughtfully adapted.
Visitors can still enjoy the historic site in a variety of ways from the 4th of July. Current opening hours are 10am to 4pm and entrance to the mill yard is free.
The site has also gained the Visit England “We’re Good To Go” Kitemark.
Here’s what to expect:
What’s Open?

Picnics & Nature – Beyond the mill walls you can explore our new wooden sculpture trail and picnic area by the River Derwent. Climb the steps of Scarthin Rock to discover the best view of the site. Across the road you can also enjoy a walk along the Cromford Canal, a lovely place to look for wildlife. You can walk from Cromford to the High Peak Junction railway workshops and Leawood Pumphouse. Please use the rubbish bins provided on site and do not leave any litter behind.
Toilets – The toilets in the mill yard are open, including the disabled toilet and baby changing facilities. We have reduced the number of cubicles and are operating a queuing system. Portaloos are also available around the site to reduce queuing.
What’s Not Open?
